New Goodwill store opening in Newton
NEWTON, Kan. — Thanks to increased demand, Goodwill Industries of Kansas is opening a new location in Newton. The store, which will be the agency’s 19th location in Kansas, is creating up to 25 jobs.
“We heard over and over again from shoppers and caregivers of adults with developmental disabilities that they wanted us to come to Newton,” said Emily Compton, president/CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kansas. “The land in the southern portion is ideal for Goodwill because of the growth in that area, and easy access for our customers and program participants.”
Goodwill’s Newton location will be located near Walmart on Kansas Avenue and encompass 14,000 square feet. Of that space, 10,000 square feet will be dedicated to retail space with the reminder used serve as a day services program center for adults with developmental disabilities who will develop skills while working in the store.
While planning is still underway, Goodwill plans to break ground in spring 2016 and host a grand opening in the fall.
