Kansas City Royals fans get World Series trophy from Ford

KANSAS CITY — Win a World Series, and get a truck designed in your honor. That’s not a bad deal, Ryan DeCosta with NESNFUEL reports.

In an idea inspired by a Royals fan, the Ford F-150 MVP edition pickup truck celebrates the Royals’ 2015 World Series win — just as Ford honored the Royals’ first World Series title 30 years prior. Marc Lasalle, a longtime Royals fan, apparently reminded Ford of the 1986 Ford Ranger MVP edition that honored the 1985 champions.

The truck comes in colors Royals fans will appreciate: Oxford White or Blue Flame. It will also feature special MVP badging, polished stainless rocker panels and a spray-in bedliner.

In all, 300 trucks were produced at the Kansas City Assembly Plant and are on sale now at Kansas City Ford dealers.

“Like our manufacturing team members at Kansas City Assembly Plant, the Kansas City Royals are a great example of what terrific teamwork can accomplish,” Gary Johnson, Ford’s vice president for North America manufacturing, said in a release.
